A good way to give disc golf some free promotion

I am always keeping my eyes open for good ways to help promote disc golf, and online promotion is one of the best ways nowadays. One of the best sources of internet traffic today is Twitter with its estimated 200 million users. I search #discgolf on there almost everyday and I see alot of disc golf related tweets. However, I think if we all work together we could get some excellent free advertising for the sport. Maybe even get it into the Trending Topics section one day!! The first thing we would need to do is be sure to put the #discgolf hash tag in all of our tweets. Istead of just typing disc golf just run the words discgolf together and make sure to put the # sign in front of it. Most people do this already, but there are still alot of people that do not. The next thing would be for us to try and all tweet around the same time each day. Or maybe a certain day and time like Thursday or Friday between 8pm-9pm. If you couldnt get to a computer just be sure to set your cell phone up to be able to use Twitter from it. Your tweet can be about a local tournament, a disc golf tip, a round you just played or by simply stating your love for #discgolf. If you would like to see some examples be sure to check out my Twitter panel to the right of this post. Together we can really help push disc golf into the mainstream. If anyone has any suggestions or would like to set up a specific #discgolf Twitter day please mention it in the comments or contact me on my Twitter page or website.

Free summer time fun in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area

Are you looking for some summer time fun in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area that dont cost a fortune? If so you should give disc golf(a.k.a frisbee golf) a try. It is an excellent way to get the whole family off the couch and outside getting some much needed exercise. You can buy discs as cheap as $4.00 each used and $8.00 each new and it dont cost anything to play. Most disc golf courses are located in public parks so they are free to use, and the DFW area has many great courses to choose from too. Be sure to check out the free course directory on our website for some of the best free courses in the area. Also, be sure to contact us if you know of a local course that is not listed on our site so we can add it to the directory. Disc golf is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy and even benefit from. So be sure to keep it in mind next time you are looking for an inexpensive family outing.

Disc/frisbee golf gaining exposure through video games

Disc golf has came a long way since its creation. It was still a virtually unknown or under ground sport even in the early 90's when I first started playing. My friends and I could play a whole 18 hole round without ever seeing another person on the course. Now the courses stay packed all day every day. Disc golf seems to have caught on like wildfire within the last 10 years or so thanks to websites, blogs, tv appearances and more recently video games. The first video game version I remember seeing was the Mini Clip computer game. It was simple and you didn't have much control over the disc, but it cleared the path for the newer more interactive games we have today. Nintendo Wii included a better version of disc golf in a video game with Wii Sports Resort. Then Nintendo DS released Original Frisbee Disc Sports Ultimate and Golf. Both of which still had room for improvement. Then last year Tiger Woods PGA tour 2010 came out and featured disc golf as a bonus game for the Nintendo Wii version, and it remains in my opinion the best thus far. Although this years Tiger Woods PGA tour 11 on Wii is offering some new improvements to look forward too such as online play and a pro difficulty setting. There have even been a few other PC disc golf games released that I have not had the pleasure of trying out yet, and now there are 2 more games slated to hit the market in the near future. One of them is another Wii game coming soon called Zoo Disc Golf, but I have heard it is not too good. The ones I am most excited about is one called Sports Champions for the soon to be released Playstation Move and the Xbox 360 Kinect is releasing a game featuring the sport as well. With all of this extra exposure disc golf is only going to continue to explode in popularity in the coming years, and who knows where it will go from there.
